Analytics and dashboards for a contactless equipment rental platform.
SurfUp operates automated equipment rental pods at beach locations, launching first in San Diego with an upcoming expansion to Waikiki. As the business prepared to grow beyond its initial market, the team needed real-time dashboards to track rental volume, revenue, equipment health, and partner performance across locations.
As CPO and board member, Mazen led the development of SurfUp's analytics platform: admin and partner dashboards tracking rentals, revenue, customer behavior, and operations across every pod location.
The admin portal gives the internal team a single view of the entire business. The partner portal lets venue operators see their own performance data without asking for a report. Both update in real time as rentals happen.

SurfUp has been featured in major media outlets across San Diego and beyond.
Before the analytics platform, the SurfUp team was pulling numbers manually from multiple systems to answer basic questions about revenue and pod performance. Weekly reporting took hours of spreadsheet work, and partner updates required custom exports for each venue.
After launch, the dashboards replaced all of that manual work. The team could see revenue, rental volume, and equipment status across every location in real time. Partner venues got their own portal with self-service access to their performance data, eliminating back-and-forth reporting requests entirely.
The analytics capabilities also became a competitive advantage beyond internal operations. When SurfUp pitched new venue partnerships, the ability to show partners exactly how their location would be tracked and reported on helped close deals that would have otherwise stalled. The data infrastructure became a selling point, not just an operational tool.
“The Figment Analytics team did an outstanding job from start to finish. They quickly grasped what we needed, asked the right questions, and delivered a powerful, polished dashboard in a remarkably short timeframe. The process was efficient and seamless, and the end result speaks for itself. Our team now has a tool that drives real, data-driven decisions. Highly recommend working with them.”
SurfUp needed to go from "we think this location is doing well" to "we know exactly how every location performs, in real time." That is the same operations optimization we deliver for every client at Figment Analytics: turning scattered operational data into dashboards that drive decisions. See how we applied a similar approach to retail analytics in our Figment Forge project.
